Productivity is important to us, but how can you be productive at work if you’re constantly feeling overwhelmed?
We all face the same issues at some point or another in our jobs — the need to accomplish a lot while managing to make a little time to enjoy the process along the way. It’s easy to get stuck in the middle of busywork, especially when you’re trying to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at once.
To help you get started, here are 7 Tips to be Increase Your Productivity.
Get rid of distractions
The first step in being more productive is to get rid of the things that pull you away from what you’re doing.
For example, if you’re working at home, then you might not want to be tempted by that email you received or that new task that popped up on your to-do list. Instead of checking those things immediately, schedule them for later so you won’t feel the urge to check them.
Make lists and use timers
We’ve all experienced the temptation to check our phones before we start a task, there are times when we’re tempted to do something else before we finish what we started. If you find yourself wasting time this way, then it’s important to create a system for yourself that helps you get back on track.
Start by making lists, and use timers to keep yourself focused on what needs to get done. If you have a timer on your phone, set a reminder every hour or so. If you don’t have one, then just make a list of the tasks you need to complete.
Set up Your Goals
It’s easy to get caught up in how much you have to get done, but the most productive people also have a sense of perspective about their goals. If you’re going to work on a project, then there are things that can get accomplished in the first hour and things that will take longer.
For example, you might start writing an email that takes 30 minutes, but if you don’t get any responses, you might decide to skip it and come back to it later.
Start Saying 'NO!'
Prioritize and delegate It’s important to know when to say “no” and to delegate responsibilities. If you’re overwhelmed with work and find yourself saying “yes” to everything, then you might not be able to say “no” to anything.
This is a problem because you won’t be able to get everything done. Instead, try delegating tasks to your team members or hiring a virtual assistant. You can also ask for help from friends and family who can provide some of the tasks that you normally do.
Find a routine
It can be hard to stick to a regular routine because there are so many things that can distract you. You might not be able to control the people around you, but you can control your own environment.
You can create a routine that will help you focus on what needs to get done and prevent you from getting distracted by other things.
For example, if you’re working at home, then you might want to spend some time every morning working out and then work for a few hours before heading out for the day. That way, when you get home, you’ll be ready to relax.
Celebrate your accomplishments
It can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you need to work constantly to be productive. However, the most successful people don’t work nonstop, and they don’t take on more than they
can handle. Instead, they focus on what they’re doing, celebrate their accomplishments, and take breaks when they need them.
This will help you stay focused and avoid burnout. You’ll also be able to find your own rhythm and find what works for you.
